Before You Begin, A Few Things We Want You to Know
If we were sitting together with your Bible on the table, I would not begin by telling you how wonderful the course is. I would first tell you what it will ask from you, where it may feel difficult, and why I still think the effort can be worth it.
I want to be honest with you before you begin. At times, this course may feel slow, repetitive, demanding, difficult, or even boring. You may reread the same passage, write something down, check it, and change your first answer.

You do not need to be an expert. You do need to be willing to slow down, try, and keep coming back.
We are telling you this now because we do not want anything important to surprise you later. The course asks something real from you because it is trying to give you something lasting: the ability to open the Bible and study it carefully for yourself.
Choose the right starting point
Is This the Right EnjoyBible Course for You?
Your age matters, but so does the way you are ready to learn. There is no prize for choosing the hardest course. The better starting point is the one that gives you enough help to keep going while still asking you to think for yourself.
Foundational Course
Choose this if you would do better with shorter activities, simpler instructions, and more help before longer notebook-based study. Starting more gently is completely fine.
Ages 13–16 · This Course
Choose this course if you are ready to read carefully, write short notebook responses, practise, check your work, and gradually do more without someone telling you every next step.
Older Learner?
If you want a more mature learning environment with longer and more independent study, choose the EnjoyBible course designed for older learners.
You are learning a skill
Why You Will Sometimes Read the Same Passage Again
You can understand the definition of Observation in a few minutes. Becoming someone who actually notices what is in a passage takes practice. The same is true of Interpretation. So yes, there will be times when I ask you to read the passage again, mark something, write a short answer, check it, and improve it.

It is possible to understand a teacher’s answer and still feel lost when you open a new passage alone. I do not want that for you. We are working toward the day when you can say, “I know how to begin.”
One limitation I do not want to hide
This Is Text-Based Online Training
A webpage cannot look at your face and notice that you are confused. It cannot see that your attention has disappeared, that you are tired after school, or that you are clicking “Next” without really doing the study. A live teacher might notice those things. This course cannot always do that.
It is also mostly a reading-and-doing course, not a video course. If you strongly prefer learning only through videos or constant live interaction, some pages may feel harder than you expect. I would rather tell you that before you enrol.
The course can guide you.It can explain the next step, show examples, give clues, and tell you where to restart.
It cannot do your attention for you.You will still need to open the Bible, think, write something down, and make your own first attempt.
You are allowed to stop.If your mind is tired, a short honest break is better than ten minutes of empty scrolling.
I cannot promise that every page will feel easy. I can promise that the instructions are meant to help you know what to do, why you are doing it, and how to keep going when the work becomes difficult.

Your week may already be full. School, exams, family responsibilities, friendships, gaming, messages, videos, social media, and ordinary tiredness can all pull at your attention. So when the Bible study itself is difficult, you should not also have to struggle to work out what the course wants you to do.

A Growing PBS DictionaryYou will build your own small reference for study words such as Observation, Interpretation, Application, and Response, so you do not have to search through the whole course every time you forget a term.
I do not want the course to feel difficult because the instructions are confusing. But I also do not want to remove the practice that actually helps you learn.
One habit matters throughout the course
Let the Bible Have the First Word
Teachers, study Bibles, commentaries, videos, and AI can all help. I am not going to tell you that using help is wrong. I am going to ask you to give the Bible and your own thinking the first turn. Then use help when you actually need it, and come back to the passage to check what you were told.

Otherwise, it is easy to receive a good answer while your own Bible-study skill stays weak.
What studying will actually look like
You Will Move Between the Course, the Bible, and Your Notebook
Keep your Bible and PBS Notebook beside you. The course gives the next instruction, but the real study happens as you return to Scripture, notice what is there, and write your own work. You will not be asked to write essays. Often a few words, a marked phrase, a question, or one clear sentence is enough. But you cannot learn this skill by only tapping “Next.”

At first I will give you more help. Later I will deliberately say less. That is not because the course suddenly becomes unfriendly. It is because a good teacher eventually has to let you try. The goal is for these habits to become yours.
Why the practice matters

Our dream is not to make you dependent on EnjoyBible. Our dream is to help you become a student who knows how to open the Bible, discover its message carefully, and keep growing with Scripture.

The Bible is meant to travel with you
Bible Study Is Bigger Than Finishing “Bible Time”
What you discover in Scripture should not stay trapped inside “Bible time.” Over time, God’s truth can begin shaping how you handle friendships, family, schoolwork, success, failure, money, technology, choices, temptation, purpose, and the future.
This does not mean forcing a Bible verse into every school subject. It means letting God’s truth shape the questions you ask, the values you carry, and the kind of person you are becoming.
Know the commitment before you begin
Give Yourself Time
This is a substantial self-paced course. Plan for about 20 hours in total, spread across many sittings. Most of the time, 30–45 minutes is enough for one study period. You may take longer, especially if notebook-based study is new to you. That is completely fine. Careful Bible study is not a race.
When you reach a genuine Selah pause or another good stopping point, you may stop and return later without starting the page again.

At the End, There Is an Open-Book Review You Need to Pass
You will not finish simply by reaching the last page. At the end, you must complete and pass the Open-Book Course Review.

This is not a speed-memory test. You may use your Bible, PBS Notebook, PBS Dictionary, your own Micah and Jonah study work, and course pages. Some questions will ask you to open Scripture before answering.
No certificate is awarded. I want you to know that before you start. The review is there to help you see whether the method is becoming usable, and where you may still need practice. The real outcome is not a badge. It is being able to open the Bible and study it for yourself.

You do not need advanced Bible knowledge. Your attention will wander sometimes. Your first answer will sometimes be weak. You may even need to redo a piece of work. None of that disqualifies you. The more important question is: Am I willing to practise?
You are probably ready to begin if...

✓ You will make your own first attempt before looking for answers.

It may be better to wait if...
• You mainly want quick explanations without doing the study yourself.
• You do not want to write or review any of your own work.
• You want AI, videos, teachers, or model answers to do the first thinking for you.
• Your main concern is finishing quickly or receiving a certificate.
There is nothing embarrassing about waiting. If this is not the right time, start more gently or come back later. I would rather you begin when you are ready than enrol enthusiastically and quietly disappear halfway through.

You do not need to impress anyone. You simply need to be willing to open the Bible, think carefully, make your own attempt, and keep learning when the first answer is not perfect.

Read that slowly. If you cannot honestly say it yet, that is okay. Choose a gentler starting point or come back later. If you can say it honestly, then you are ready to begin.
